One of my timers always schedules duplicate programs for smart watering. For example, yesterday the timer watered zones 1, 2 and 3 for a total of 82 minutes that began at 3:00 AM. It then ran another program for the same three zones for the same run time beginning at 4:22 AM. I have a duplicate program scheduled for Thursday for zone 3 only (i.e. two runs of zone 3). In fact, every time smart watering has scheduled a program, it has always duplicated it. Is there a reason why this is happening? I have an identical timer at a different location where smart watering doesn’t do this.

@Boolah, everything seems to be fine with your system. Smart watering will usually break the watering period into shorter segments. It sounds like you will want to edit each zones watering schedule adjustments page. Which is found under smart details. In that setting It will have two slide bars. the Runtime adjustment slide bar will change the runtime witch is displayed above under estimated duration. Currently your zone 1 shows 1:12 which would be an hour and 12 min. The interval Adjustment will adjust the amount of days in between each scheduled watering. This will be displayed under estimated intervals in a calendar format. Showing you how many days between each scheduled watering day for each month. Your zone 1 currently shows 5 days between each watering for the month of June. You may need to adjust it a couple of times before it shows exactly the settings that you’d like. Once set the new settings will become your standard or your 0%/middle mark on your slide bars, for the next time you enter this setting. Please just let us know if you have any further questions, or are in need of any other assistance. we’d be happy to help!

Thank you for that very detailed and useful explanation of adjusting the watering schedule. I’ve played around with the settings, and they have changed the duration of the watering, but no matter how long or short I set the duration to, it continues to duplicate the schedule. For example, initially I had all three zone scheduled to water for a total of 82 minutes. The program for the three zones would then duplicate, back to back, for another 82 minutes. Now, it’s scheduling the three zones to run for a total 41 minutes, but it’s still duplicating that, back to back, for an additional 41 minutes.

What seems so strange to me is I have another timer (exact same model and firmware) located approximately 10 miles away that does not display this behavior. It simply schedules each zone to run in succession and does not duplicate the program. I guess nothing is really wrong, it just seems strange that it’s duplicating the program instead of adjusting the time like my other timer.

Hello Boolah, I’m sorry that I misunderstood your original post. There have been some bugs reported where some timer’s smart watering schedules/history are being recorded twice. Currently they are working on getting that fixed with a new app update. However I have no current information on when it will be released other than soon. Again my apologies. If however you timer does in fact water twice when it should really only be watering once please let me know. If there’s any other way I can assist again please just let me know.

I have been having the same problem from the time I first used the smart watering schedule. Duplicate watering schedules running back to back for an excessive duration (almost 90 minutes per schedule for an average 5 station front lawn). Orbit has been aware of the issue for over a year not but has not been able to roll out a fix. Meanwhile, my water usage is through the roof when I use smart watering (the main reason I purchased the timer)

Orbit, PLEASE address and fix this issue ASAP!

@AkeelJ, You will want to make some changes to each zones watering schedule adjustments page under smart details. When making changes in the watering schedule adjustments page you will want to adjust both settings. The Runtime adjustment slide bar will change your sprinklers runtime (longer or shorter), and is shown by percentage on the slide bar. Up at the top of the page just to the right of estimated duration, shows how long it will run. Then use the interval adjustment slide bar to determine if your system waters less or more often. These changes are displayed in the calendar above under estimated intervals. It shows the number of days between each scheduled watering cycle for each month of the year. Just so you know once you’ve set your changes, and leave this page the slide bars will revert to the middle so further adjustments can be made. Your previous settings are not lost, it’s just allows further adjustments to be made from the settings you previously set. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
