So I have been watering my yard, zone 1, in program mode for about a month now. This time of year it runs 7 minutes 3 times every other day and my yard looks great. I wanted to try smart watering so I set it all up and even did the catch cups. I turned smart watering on and now it wants to water zone 1 28 minutes 2 times every other day. That is way too much water and it would be running down the street not to mention my water bill would double. My other 2 zones have similar statistics. What am I missing?

rhaub101, it could be your catch cup information. However you can just edit the runtime, and how often your zones water in the smart details page. This is done under the watering schedule adjustments section. There is a slide bar for each of the adjustable settings. The new settings are displayed at the top of the page under estimated duration, and estimated intervals. Once you set them the new settings will become the standard. So if you return to the watering schedule adjustments page the slide bars will be set back at zero/the middle.
You may also want to confirm your address, and weather station. If you would like me to check for any possible firmware updates please provide me with your mac address. If you have any other questions please just let me know, and i’d be happy to help.

I don’t know what “it could be your catch cup information” means. I measured the amount for 10 minutes and entered it just as instructed. I tried adjusting the watering schedule as you suggested but if I get the run times down even fairly close to my manual settings it says my next scheduled watering is over a week away. My soil moisture is already 0% so that can’t be right. If I adjust the interval I get the next run time to be 46 min (2×23) and that can’t be right either. I’m still confused. The MAC address is 44:67:5502:A7:C9
    Thanks for your help

Hello rhaub101, I suggested it could be your catch cup information, because if that information is entered incorrectly then your smart watering will be off. Since looking at your catch cup information I saw that there is only one cup entry for each zone. I’d suggest watching the catch cup video, and reading the instructions again in the catch up section of the app for more accurate readings. When making changes in the watering schedule adjustments page you will want to adjust both settings. The Runtime adjustment slide bar will change your sprinklers runtime (longer or shorter), and is shown by percentage on the slide bar. Up at the top of the page just to the right of estimated duration, shows how long it will run. Then use the interval adjustment slide bar to determine if your system waters less or more often. These changes are displayed in the calendar above under estimated intervals. It shows the number of days between each scheduled watering cycle for each month of the year. Just so you know once you’ve set your changes, and leave this page the slide bars will revert to the middle so further adjustments can be made. Your previous settings are not lost, it’s just allows further adjustments to be made from the settings you previously set. Using these adjustments you can achieve your 21 min every other day for each zone. The spacing may not be exactly divided into three cycles of 7min, but you will still get the coverage you want. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
