I bought and installed a bhyve (MAC address: 44:67:55:40:47:77) this weekend to replace my digital timer, mainly because I liked the idea of being able not needing to be physically at my timer to test, or manually water, or delay watering when I’m away and it rains.

But then I became interested in the smart watering idea.

As a new user I filled in the details of smart watering per zone, but all I was faced with was a home page message that said ‘You have no programs scheduled’ and a blank calendar, which gave me no confidence I actually set it up right!

Later I logged back in, and I saw a message that ‘watering will start at x day/time’ and a schedule partially populated in the calendar.

OK so now I understand better there is some cloud based job that analysis is done and the schedule dynamically updates based on model and weather changes. As a user I need to know this in the app, that the schedule is being worked on and will be updated at X time.

Now I have no confidence the smart watering is working.

I had one of my five zones water today. Then the only other one scheduled was the same zone tomorrow, when it’s supposed to be a 4 day interval. All my other zones say ‘next watering:none scheduled’.

If I make any zone changes, like level of moisture, all the scheduling info disappears again and I’m left clueless, back to ‘You have no programs scheduled’.

I understand that the schedule may be projected or tentative or subject to change with Smart Watering, but please give me some more info to work with.

    Thanks for listening.

So should I bear with smart watering and see if it settles down or you improve some of the user experience, or fall back to scheduled timers?

Hello Bevmo, I’ve taken a look at your timer and show that it does have all of your stations scheduled to water. Today, stations 2-5 will all be watering. Station 1 will water Thursday.

All of your stations have different settings in them, so I wouldn’t expect them to water all at the same time. I would suggest just watching your program, but not actually making changes. After the first 2 weeks, the program typically tends to even out and you’ll begin to see a more “routine” watering.

Thanks Stephen for checking, and yes I see a schedule populated now for all my zones, and some ran this morning.
I think my user experience on not knowing if smart watering is set up properly, or that schedule is being (re)calculated if I make changes, is still valid for you to consider in future.

It’s actually pretty cool to see this change dynamically, as I think there was a Thursday schedule, but now it’s shifted to Friday.

At the moment I have two home page messages on the app: ‘Smart Watering will being watering at 8:00am on Friday Morning’ and swipe left ‘Smart Watering will begin at 8:25 am Friday Morning’. I guess this is technically correct, as there are two runs on the same zones, but a little confusing to read… maybe one message saying ‘Next Smart Watering is scheduled for xxx date time on for zone(s) a,b,c’ is a suggestion for a status.

Anyway, I’m willing to give this a go and not touch it for 2 weeks to see what actually happens 🙂

Eg I see zones that I’d prefer to be paired at same interval not being paired, and I see zones scheduled for watering intervals closer together than I would expect (as compared to the the Zone Detail -> Smart Details -> Watering Schedule Adjustments -> Estimated Intervals Table)… I’ll keep my eye on it.

@aegoldman I show that you now have those programs in the timer. Are you seeing this as well?

I am having the same problem. For many days it was stuck on searching for weather stations. It finally loaded the weather stations, but it says “no programs scheduled” even though everything is setup as it was when everything was working.
