    Apple HomeKit

    Hello Everyone!

Here’s a brief update. We are currently performing the Bonjour Conformance Test portion of the HomeKit certification process. I know that there are some “bugs” that our engineers are working on with Apple’s engineers so I can’t say when this will be worked out but it is happening as I type. If you care to learn all about BCT here’s the link: https://developer.apple.com/bonjour/

I won’t say, “It’s coming soon” but I will say that we want to get this completed in a bad way. Yes, it’s been way too long coming and we are all ready too.

Thanks for hanging in there with us!

    There. There’s your update.

Well, it’s time to put the sprinklers to bed for me anyway so it isn’t a huge deal. I still like the app.

I sort of appreciate that someone is keeping this thread alive, although I’m not sure “yelling” at Orbit is going to make this go any faster. Hopefully, the HomeKit is going to be ready by spring. If not, I don’t have to walk to the garage to push a button, I can still pull the phone out of my pocket.

And even though Google and Alexa work, there are still some of us die hard folks who won’t be buying that stuff anytime soon.

Since I can’t create a new topic can someone else? I’m all for the HomeKit adoption by the way and the least orbit should do is send out some promotional stuff to us for delaying HomeKit integration… and now for my idea

Instead of going downstairs and unplugging my b-hyve every fall and plugging in every spring, or shutting of notifications and turning off zones every season can we get one switch in app called winter mode that shuts off everything and when we are ready we can turn it off? Simple little things. Thanks

Can’t you simply go into the native app and turn off all the programs you have set? That should effectively stop all watering from the timer with no need to unplug the timer, or maybe there is some nuance I’m missing.

Open the app go to settings click your timer and under run mode set to off from auto… pretty simple.

I still want HomeKit for my system. I’m really into that eco system.

Btw, my local big box store… the orange one… still has a large ad claiming HomeKit capatibility for the BHyve.

Same here. The primary reason I picked Orbit over Rachio, was that Orbit had announced HomeKit and Rachio had not. Seems ironic that Rachio announced HomeKit support after Orbit, but shipped way before.

Mine as well. At some point this seems like a problem.

As we approach the two year anniversary of Orbit’s Homekit announcement, I think we can just forget it ever happening.

I picked up 2 Alexa Dot’s for $5 each this weeek (add on to Wi-Fi thermostat order on Amazon).

Added B-hyve to Alexa in a couple of minutes and now I can control it inside using my voice or from the iPhone app.

Too bad Apple & B-hyve couldn’t get this working.

Anyone else notice how an official post from Orbit got moved to the Customer Suggestion area? I suppose they thought less people would notice it there?

Well if nothing else, Orbit and Ring taught consumers to never believe promises of future features and abilities. Two companies I’ll never buy from again.

@stephen Hey, what gives? Why was the Homekit discussion moved over here to “customer suggestions”?

Homekit is not a “customer suggestion”. It is an announced feature by Orbit 2 YEARS AGO at CES 2018.

    We deserve an update.

Now that Orbit has announced, through their silence, that this won’t ever happen, I decided to try out something different. My current setup is the Orbit irrigation timer/gateway and three hose controllers. About a month ago I found a great open-box deal for an Eve hose timer. It has been great. Easy setup, reliable. Finally Siri can control this. I’ll look for deals to replace the rest of the Orbit stuff and dump it on eBay.

    Dear @stephan and @bhyve,

When I bought this timer I was of the impression that it would work with my iPhone and Siri and HomeKit as per the advertising ( see picture). Therefore I was shocked as when I got it home to realize it would not connect to homekit, I researched online about this issue and ran into this thread and after reading thought to myself that I would give you the chance to release the feature fully baked and not half assed as I’m sure you would appreciate the ramifications of a valve being left on or turned on without my permission (hacked).

Now that it has been said that this feature will not be coming to my timer I hereby ask that you refund my cost of timer in Canadian funds as you have engaged in false advertising in Canada and I will report and follow thru with the appropriate authorities. I ask this as I cannot return to the store ( home depot ) That I purchased from.

Please explain or contact me with refund information.
