ParticipantGosh, that’s great. But how is this “announcement” new?
You’ve been telling customers for months and months that HomeKit support is “coming soon.”
Is there actually something new, or is this just an attempt to keep the pitchfork-toting villagers at bay a little longer?
Some details other than “coming soon” would be helpful.

ParticipantThanks for the update Stephen.
Will we see the update before the end of August?
WALSTIB373 makes a good point. It has been “coming soon” for a very long time now.
A rough timeframe would be appreciated and reasonable.
Thanks in advance

ParticipantIt has been 2 weeks since Stephen posted the message ‘Coming Soon for Apple HomeKit updates’.In fact, Orbit had announced the HomeKit support at CES 2018 and we are still waiting for this update.
Any timeframe would be helpful to check back here.

KeymasterThis is a collaborative effort between Orbit and Apple, there’s coding on both sides to make this work. So far, this is the message Apple has authorized us to give you.
“Dear B-hyve user,

ParticipantMaybe it’s “government soon,” which in my business we always joke that’s within the next three to 25 years.
It’ll come when it comes; meanwhile my system works just fine with the app and having the enormous headache of poking at my screen a few times instead of telling Siri to water my lawn. [/sarc]
First world problems. *shrug*

ParticipantThat moment when you see a new post under “Apple Homekit” topic, yet another disappointment 🙁

ParticipantI’d actually like to know what the actual holdup is… just say it’s this or that. Not telling us anything is worse than saying soon.

I wish we could, Apple has issued us a statement (posted above) that they approved for all inquiries into HomeKit integration and that’s all we’re officially allowed to say on the matter.
This takes collaboration to execute, it’s not something Orbit alone can accomplish and we’re eager to deliver this feature to our Apple users as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued understanding and patience or what’s left of it anyway. 😉

ParticipantEven Rachio has beat b-hyve to HomeKit (https://9to5mac.com/2018/09/25/rachio-3-homekit/) yet further adding to the disappointment with the first to announce support and to re-announce in this thread over two months ago… 🙁

ParticipantVery detail Homekit setup instruction from Rachio. When can we have one from the Orbit team? 🙁
If the hold up/delay is really related to Apple, how could Rachio release the homekit so quickly?

ParticipantWhen I first bought this timer a while ago, one of the key selling points was the HomeKit Capability.
Please help us all understand why you as a company, would think it’s “ok” or acceptable that Apple “authorized” you to provide a blanket statement from them to give to YOUR customers that they are working on this and it’s still not done. If this truly a collaborative effort to get this resolved, who are they to “authorize” another Company on what they can or cannot say about this? It appears Apple has put your Company and your Customers on the “bottom of the totem pole” of priorities. For you all to continue to put out the same blanket statement from Apple is unacceptable.
Although it’s not like this is a huge issue because the timer itself is awesome. But I would think if many of us knew about this issue prior to buying and setting it up, we may have have went with another Timer that actually did what it said it was going to do and what we paid for originally. With that said, do you all have any further updates on Apple HomeKit compatibility?
Sorry…just frustrated….Thanks

ParticipantAny update on the HomeKit support?
Spread the love!November 11, 2018 at 9:30 pm #76539i-spy
ParticipantHi,
The lack of feedback/communication really makes me feel Orbit/Bhyve is not interested in supporting Apple Homekit anymore. Could you get me a refund on the Bhyve Timer so that I can move on and buy the Rachio 3 instead (which currently support Homekit)? I am very frustrated with the situation and I do not believe this is fair to treat long term customer that way.
